Control Panel almost done

I spent sunday in the shed with the father in law drilling and routing out the control panel. heres the finished product.....Didnt have any flat bolts to sink in the panel, so kinda routed out some bigger holes and since im gonna cover it with a vinyl and plexiglass top it wont matter. I thought mdf was dusty when sawing, turns out routing makes it into the smallest particles in the world..lungs felt like glue the whole next day lol

http://www.happcontrols.com/monitors/monitors_pc.htm

one of the vision pros from Happ. Now if there customer service is anything to go by, its gonna be worth paying almost half the cost of the monitor in shipipng. Awesome response times from the technical and sales consultants, Im talking < hr

Parts & things

Picked up some Plexi today from bunnings, this 120mm x 90mm sheet cost me a staggering $10.60 NZD...somehow Im thinking they undercharged me a little :)

Heres a close up of my box of toys. Havent had a chance to try the joystick coloured handles as of yet, hopefully they fit in ok. That tool in the bottom right courner is great for removing/adding D-ring clips to the shafts though.. Im only planning on making a two player cabinet but I have about 5 Sticks now, cant decide which ones i like the best currently :) There is also an i-Pac in there somewhere to be the interface.

Mame Cabinet Underway

Ok, so the plan is over the next few weeks to document my Mame Arcade Cabinet as i build/wire/test it until finished.

I've based my first cabinet off the plans in the book "Project Arcade" by John St.Clair
http://www.projectarcade.com/

Thanks to the madness of modern technology I am going to have to start documenting from now as previous photos have gone with the wind. Im currently at the stage where we (i say we meaning myself and the father in law) have now gotten the cab built. the external casings made and srewed together.

the Cabinet is made out of MDF (dustier than your aunties matress) coated in an acrylic, like the material used for kitchen cabnetry. Its a nice black textured surface. The edgs have had a har dplastic melted/molded into place, as I didnt like the idea of doing the t-molding myself :)

pictures comings shortly...
